Who actually does the work?
An independent roofing or siding contractor working in Cypress, under their own business name. Cypress Roofing & Siding is a referral service and does not perform roofing or siding work.
Is there a building inspection on a Cypress re-roof?
Cypress is unincorporated, so there is no city inspector. The residential code Texas lets Harris County apply outside city limits is aimed at new houses, with inspections arranged by the builder. For a re-roof, the checks are the ACC approval, the manufacturer warranty requirements and the contractor’s written scope and photos. If your lot is in a mapped floodplain, ask Harris County Engineering what applies.
Do Texas roofers need a license?
No. Texas has no state license for residential roofing or siding. The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas has a voluntary credential. Ask instead for insurance certificates, how workers are covered, a local address, manufacturer certification and a written warranty.
Will someone help me with my insurance company?
No. This site does not file, negotiate, adjust or settle claims with an insurer, and no Texas roofing contractor lawfully may. It will not connect you with anyone who offers to. The contractor can inspect, photograph and quote; anything between you and your insurer stays with you and your insurer.
My roof is under ten years old. Can it really be damaged?
Yes. Wind creases shingle tabs and breaks their seal strips regardless of age, and southern Cypress took two EF1 tornadoes on May 16, 2024, followed by Hurricane Beryl that July. A roof check looks at the shingles, not the build date.
How do I know if my siding is hardboard?
Hardboard lap siding was common on production homes from the late 1970s through the 1990s. It is lighter and softer than fiber cement, and when it fails the bottom edges swell and flake. A contractor can confirm from one board.
Does my HOA have to approve the work?
In most Cypress communities, yes, for roof products and colors and for siding materials and colors. Get the written approval before work is scheduled.
Can my HOA refuse an impact-resistant shingle?
Texas Property Code section 202.011 bars an association from prohibiting wind- and hail-resistant, energy-efficient or solar shingles that resemble the approved shingles, are at least as durable and match the neighborhood's look. The ACC still decides color and appearance.
What should a roof quote include?
The shingle product and color, underlayment, drip edge, flashing and vent replacement, ventilation, a per-sheet price for decking, cleanup, and both warranties in writing. Photos of the deck once the old roof is off are worth asking for.
Is there a charge for the referral?
No. There is no fee to you for being connected with a contractor. What you pay for the work is agreed between you and the contractor.
