Bridgeland is the largest and newest-feeling part of Cypress, and the roofs here are young. That is exactly why the May 16, 2024 tornado matters more here than roof age does.
The National Weather Service surveyed an EF1 tornado in Bridgeland during the May 16, 2024 derecho, along Longhorn Point Drive, about half a mile long and 75 yards wide with peak winds near 110 mph. KPRC 2, reporting the survey on August 13, 2024, counted four homes severely damaged. Around that narrow track, straight-line wind reached far more houses.
The houses it hit were built from 2006 onward, when Bridgeland’s first homes went on sale. A Bridgeland roof in 2024 was at most about eighteen years old and usually much younger. Howard Hughes, the developer, reported 812 home sales in Bridgeland in 2025, ranking it eleventh among the country’s best-selling master-planned communities and third in Texas, with nearly 30,000 residents across five villages and roughly 70,000 expected at full buildout. For a roof, that means two things: construction traffic and debris on neighboring lots, and many houses still inside a builder’s warranty period. Bridgeland’s architectural review is part of how the master plan keeps its look, and approved roof and siding colors can differ between villages. Submit the shingle product and color name, with a sample, and wait for the written approval before a crew is scheduled. How to prepare the application
Siding here is rarely the problem yet. When it is, it is usually storm-related: lap siding peeled at a gable peak by the same wind that lifted the shingles.
